Trenton Massey, Missing Northern Michigan University Student in Marquette, Help Find

Authorities in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula are continuing their search for a missing 21-year-old student from Northern Michigan University who has not been seen since early Sunday morning. Trenton Massey was last spotted around 3 a.m. on Feb. 22, 2026, walking near East Baraga Avenue and the Founder’s Landing Boardwalk in Marquette.

Investigators believe he may have been attempting to return to his residence on McMillan Street. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Massey appearing disoriented and struggling to walk. He was last seen wearing a black and olive-green coat. The Marquette Police Department, along with several assisting agencies, has conducted ongoing search efforts since he was reported missing, providing daily updates through social media.

On Feb. 23, police released a map outlining the primary search zone where they believe Massey may be located. Search operations were paused around 7 p.m. Monday evening and are scheduled to resume at 9 a.m. Tuesday, with a focus on the water in the lower harbor near Founder’s Landing. Authorities are asking volunteers who wish to assist to report to the Hampton Inn – 461 S. Lakeshore Boulevard lobby at 10 a.m. for instructions. Police have also urged volunteers to avoid walking on the harbor ice for safety reasons.
