Altoona Man Killed in Early Morning Crash on I-99

An Altoona man was killed in a tragic accident on Interstate 99 early Saturday morning in Blair County, authorities said.
Andrew Wolford, 23, died from blunt force injuries after being struck by a vehicle on the interstate, according to the Blair County Coroner’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police.
The incident occurred around 3:50 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-99 in Snyder Township. Police reported that Wolford had been driving a Buick Lucerne that became disabled following an earlier crash in the right-hand lane of the highway.
After the initial collision, Wolford exited his vehicle and was walking across the interstate. During that time, a Honda Civic struck the disabled Buick, which was then pushed into a Freightliner truck. Authorities said Wolford was killed during the secondary crash.
The incident remains under investigation by state police.
