Ian Huntley, Soham murderer, Seriously Injured in Prison Assault At HMP Frankland in County Durham
Soham murderer Ian Huntley has been seriously injured in a prison assault this morning. Child killer Ian Huntley is reportedly fighting for his life after being attacked by another inmate. The 52-year-old was found lying in a pool of blood on his prison wing and was airlifted to hospital for emergency treatment. The assault is understood to have taken place at around 9am at HMP Frankland in County Durham. Sources told The Sun that Huntley’s condition was described as “touch and go” following the violent incident.
One source said the scene inside the prison was “absolute chaos,” adding that Huntley was left in a “terrible state” after the attack. The source also expressed surprise that anyone was able to get close to him, as he is typically subject to close supervision due to the notoriety of his crimes. Huntley is serving a life sentence for the 2002 murders of 10-year-olds Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in Soham, Cambridgeshire. The two schoolgirls had known Huntley because he worked as a caretaker at their school.
Their deaths shocked the nation and led to significant changes in child protection and vetting procedures across the UK. Authorities have not yet released an official statement detailing the extent of Huntley’s injuries or confirming the circumstances surrounding the assault. An investigation into the incident is expected to take place as prison officials assess how the attack was able to occur despite security measures.
